The 1st Annual WEEN Awards (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network) held in Washington, DC over this past weekend was a great success. The event honored Vivica A. Foxx, Hill Harper, Malinda Williams, Shanti Das and Maria Davis. The event was sponsored by BET, Anheuser-Busch and McDonalds.

Chair and WEEN Founder Valeisha Butterfield(Pictured below to the far left) , formerly of Russell Simmons Hip Hop Summit Action Network announced that she was recently appointed as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Obama Administration.
